Cowans Sporting Shooting Holidays in Scotland

Please find below directions and Google maps that will help you find the location of Raehills Stately Home, The Shore Self Catering Accommodation and Cowans Guest House.

For Guns wishing to stay at Raehills:

• From the North, exit Junction 15 Moffat on the A74M motorway. Travel 6 miles south on A701. Go through the traffic lights at St Ann’s bridge, turning immediately right as you leave the bridge, passing through the white entrance gates at the lodge.
• From the South, exit Junction 16 Johnstonebridge on the A74M motorway. Follow signs to Johnstonebridge, then to St Anns, a distance of about 4 miles on small country roads. Turn left at the traffic lights at St Anns bridge, then turning immediately right as you leave the bridge, passing through the white entrance gates at the lodge.

For Guns wishing to stay at The House on Shore: 

• From Dumfries/ the North, South and East.
  Take the A710 Solway Coast road out of Dumfries. Go through Islesteps and New Abbey (note the village shop on your left). When you get to Kirkbean follow signs to Arbigland and Paul Jones Cottage so go left into the village then right by the kirk. Follow this road for about a mile out of the village, go up a hill and take the second left signed to Canabony and the House on the Shore. You are now on estate roads, please drive slowly and mind the potholes! Go past the farm at Canabony down a slope and round a bend to the right. Take the next left by a cedar tree at the back of the big house signed House on the Shore and Shore Cottage. Follow the drive down remembering to hoot on a steep bend and the front door is the first door on the right, more parking round the back.

• From Stranraer and the West
  Get off the A75 at Castle Douglas and follow the A745 to Dalbeattie. From Dalbeattie take the A710 to Kirkbean then follow the directions as above.

For Guns wishing to stay at Cowans Guesthouse: 

Cowans lies 8 miles from Dumfries, just off the A711 Dalbeattie Road and half a mile from Kirkgunzeon [view a map with these directions].

1. Follow the A711 from Dumfries, through Beeswing Village and past Beeswing Caravan Park to your right.
2. Look for two cottages, one on either side of the road. After the one on your left (Toll bar Cottage) turn right.
3. Cross the bridge over the disused railway and follow our sign ahead of you.
